บทคัดย่อ
Haemoglobin H disease is a mild to moderately severe a-thalassaemic disease. As a result of defective a-chain synthesis, the excessive /3-chains polymerize to form tetramers, P4 or Hb H. Hb H, being unstable, precipitates and aggregates to form intraerythrocytic inclusion bodies after the red blood cells (RBC) are incubated with basic dyes such as brilliant cresyl blue or methylcne blue (liigas et al, 19.56). Thus, Hb H disease is characterized by the haemoglobin phenotype of A + H and the presence of intra-erythrocytic inclusion bodies.
